longerworkwell.

attached canbedangerous. Ifsomething goes
wrong,therigcouldstarttomove.Peoplecanbe
injured, andboththevehicleandthetrailercanbe
damaged.Whenpossible, alwaysparktherigon
aflatsurface.
VehiclescantowinD(Drive). Shiftthetransmission to
alowergearifthetransmission shiftstoooftenunder
heavyloadsand/orhillyconditions.
Thetow/haul modemaybeusedifthetransmission
shiftstoooften.SeeTow/HaulModeonpage3‑36.
Whentowingathighaltitude onsteepuphillgrades,
consider thefollowing: Enginecoolantwillboilata
lowertemperature thanatnormalaltitudes. Iftheengine
isturnedoffimmediately aftertowingathighaltitude on
steepuphillgrades,thevehiclemayshowsignssimilar
toengineoverheating. Toavoidthis,lettheenginerun
whileparked,preferably onlevelground,withthe
automatic transmission inP(Park)forafewminutes
beforeturningtheengineoff.Iftheoverheatwarning
comeson,seeEngineOverheating onpage7‑34.
Ifparkingtherigonahill:
1. Pressthebrakepedal,butdonotshiftinto
P(Park)yet.Turnthewheelsintothecurbiffacing
downhill orintotrafficiffacinguphill.
2.
Havesomeoneplacechocksunderthetrailer
wheels.
3.
Whenthewheelchocksareinplace,releasethe
regularbrakesuntilthechocksabsorbtheload.
