Gettingoutonthedownhill(low)sideofavehicle
stoppedacrossanincline isdangerous. Ifthe
vehiclerollsover,youcouldbecrushedorkilled.
Alwaysgetoutontheuphill(high)sideofthe
vehicleandstaywellclearoftherollover path.
Hardpackedsnowandiceoffertheworsttiretraction.
Onthesesurfaces, itisveryeasytolosecontrol. On
wetice,forexample, thetraction issopoorthatyouwill
havedifficulty accelerating. And,ifthevehicledoesget
moving,poorsteering anddifficult brakingcancauseit
toslideoutofcontrol.
Ifthevehiclestallswhencrossing anincline, besure
you,andanypassengers, getoutontheuphillside,
evenifthedoorthereishardertoopen.Ifyougetout
onthedownhill sideandthevehiclestartstorollover,
youwillberightinitspath.

dangerous. Underwater springs,currents under
theice,orsuddenthawscanweakentheice.Your
vehiclecouldfallthroughtheiceandyouandyour

thevehiclewilltakeifitdoesrollover.
DrivinginMud,Sand,Snow,orIce
Whenyoudriveinmud,snow,orsand,thewheels
donotgetgoodtraction. Acceleration isnotas
quick,turningismoredifficult, andbrakingdistances
arelonger.
Itisbesttousealowgearwheninmud—the
deeperthemud,thelowerthegear.Inreallydeepmud,
keepthevehiclemovingsoitdoesnotgetstuck.
