downfirmlyandletantilock work.Thebrakesmight
vibrateorsomenoisemightbeheard,butthisis
normal.
Thevehiclehasavehiclestability enhancement system
calledStabiliTrak. Itisanadvanced computercontrolled
systemthatassiststhedriverwithdirectional controlof
thevehicleindifficult drivingconditions.
StabiliTrakactivates whenthecomputer senses
adiscrepancy betweentheintended pathandthe
direction thevehicleisactually traveling. StabiliTrak
selectively appliesbrakingpressureatanyoneofthe
vehicle's brakestoassistthedriverwithkeepingthe
vehicleontheintended path.
BrakinginEmergencies
ABSallowsthedrivertosteerandbrakeatthesame
time.Inmanyemergencies, steering canhelpmore
thaneventheverybestbraking.
BrakeAssist
Whenthevehicleisstarted andbeginstomove,the
systemperforms severaldiagnostic checkstoinsure
therearenoproblems. Thesystemmaybeheardorfelt
whileitisworking. Thisisnormalanddoesnotmean
thereisaproblemwiththevehicle. Thesystemshould
initialize beforethevehiclereaches20mph(32km/h).
Insomecases,itmaytakeapproximately twomilesof
drivingbeforethesysteminitializes.
ThisvehiclehasaBrakeAssistfeaturedesigned to
assistthedriverinstopping ordecreasing vehicle
speedinemergency drivingconditions. Thisfeature
usesthestability systemhydraulic brakecontrolmodule
tosupplement thepowerbrakesystemunderconditions
wherethedriverhasquicklyandforcefully appliedthe
brakepedalinanattempttoquicklystoporslowdown
thevehicle. Thestability systemhydraulic brakecontrol
moduleincreases brakepressureateachcornerofthe
vehicleuntiltheABSactivates. Minorbrakepedal
pulsations orpedalmovementduringthistimeisnormal
andthedrivershouldcontinue toapplythebrakepedal
asthedrivingsituation dictates TheBrakeAssist
featurewillautomatically disengage whenthebrake
pedalisreleased orbrakepedalpressure isquickly
decreased.
IfcruisecontrolisbeingusedwhenStabiliTrak
activates, thecruisecontrolautomatically disengages.
Thecruisecontrolcanbere-engaged whenroad
