happenswithABS:
ThisvehiclehastheAntilock BrakeSystem(ABS),an
advanced electronic brakingsystemthathelpsprevent
abrakingskid.
Acomputer sensesthatthewheelsareslowingdown.
Ifoneofthewheelsisabouttostoprolling, the
computerwillseparately workthebrakesateachfront
wheelandatbothrearwheels.
Whentheengineisstartedandthevehiclebeginsto
driveaway,ABSchecksitself.Amomentary motoror
clicking noisemightbeheardwhilethistestisgoingon.
Thisisnormal.
ABScanchangethebrakepressuretoeachwheel,as
required, fasterthananydrivercould.Thiscanhelpthe
driversteeraroundtheobstacle whilebrakinghard.
Ifthereisaproblemwith
ABS,thiswarninglight
stayson.SeeAntilock
BrakeSystem(ABS)
WarningLight on
Asthebrakesareapplied,thecomputerkeeps
receiving updatesonwheelspeedandcontrolsbraking
pressure accordingly.

Remember: ABSdoesnotchangethetimeneededto
getafootuptothebrakepedaloralwaysdecrease
stopping distance. Ifyougettooclosetothevehiclein
frontofyou,therewillnotbeenoughtimetoapplythe
brakesifthatvehiclesuddenlyslowsorstops.Always
leaveenoughroomupaheadtostop,evenwithABS.
AlongwithABS,thevehiclehasaDynamicRear
Proportioning (DRP)system.IfthereisaDRPproblem,
boththebrakeandABSwarninglightscomeon
accompanied bya10‐secondchime.Thelightsand
chimewillcomeoneachtimetheignitionisturnedon
untiltheproblemisrepaired. Seeyourdealer/retailer
forservice.
