GradeBraking
CruiseGradeBrakingassistswhendrivingona
downhill grade.Itmaintains vehiclespeedby
automatically implementing ashiftschedule thatuses
theengineandthetransmission toslowthevehicle.
CruiseGradeBrakingoperateswhileCruiseControlis
engagedinTow/Haulmodetoassistinmaintaining
vehiclespeedunderloadedvehicleconditions.
Itutilizes vehicleacceleration anddeviation from
desiredspeedtodetermine thecorrectgearforthe
operating condition. Ifvehiclespeedisabovethe
desiredspeedthetransmission willdownshift toslow
thevehicle. Ifvehiclespeedisnearorbelowdesired
speedthetranswillupshift, allowing vehiclespeed
toincrease.
TheGradeBrakingshiftmodescanbeactivated by
pressing thebuttonontheendoftheshiftcontrollever.
WhileinRangeSelection Mode,GradeBrakingis
deactivated allowing thedrivertoselectadesiredrange
ofgears.
GradeBrakingisonlyactivewhiletheTow/HaulMode
isselected andyouarenotintheRangeSelection

Brakingassistsinmaintaining desiredvehiclespeeds
whendrivingondownhill gradesbyautomatically
implementing ashiftschedule thatutilizes theengine
andtransmission toslowthevehicle. Thisreduceswear
onthebrakingsystemandincreases controlofthe
vehicle. GradeBrakingmonitors vehiclespeed,
acceleration, enginetorqueandbrakepedalusage.
WhileintheRangeSelectMode(RSM)mode,cruise
gradebrakingisnotavailable.
