Itisnotnecessary toregularly checkrearaxlefluid
unlessyoususpectthereisaleakoryouhearan
unusualnoise.Afluidlosscouldindicate aproblem.
Haveitinspected andrepaired.
Allaxleassemblies arefilledbyvolumeoffluidduring
production. Theyarenotfilledtoreachacertainlevel.
Whenchecking thefluidlevelonanyaxle,variations in
thereadings canbecausedbyfactoryfilldifferences
betweentheminimumandthemaximumfluidvolume.
Also,ifavehiclehasjustbeendrivenbeforechecking
thefluidlevel,itmayappearlowerthannormalbecause
fluidhastraveled outalongtheaxletubesandhasnot
drainedbacktothesumparea.Therefore, areading
takenfiveminutesafterthevehiclehasbeendrivenwill
appeartohavealowerfluidlevelthanavehiclethat
hasbeenstationary foranhourortwo.Remember that
therearaxleassembly mustbesupported togetatrue
reading.
Togetanaccurate reading, thevehicleshouldbeona
levelsurface.

from0.6inchto1.6inches(15mmto40mm)below
thebottomofthefillerplughole,locatedonthe
rearaxle.Addonlyenoughfluidtoreachthe
properlevel.

from0.04inchto0.75inch(1.0mmto19.0mm)
belowthebottomofthefillerplughole,locatedon
therearaxle.Addonlyenoughfluidtoreachthe
properlevel.
