HeadlampsonReminder
Whenitbeginstogetdark,theautomatic    headlamp
systemswitches fromDRLtotheheadlamps.
Ifadoorisopen,areminder    chimesoundswhenthe
headlamps orparkinglampsaremanually  turnedon
andthekeyisoutoftheignition.    Toturnoffthechime,
turntheheadlampswitchtoofforAUTOandthenback
on,orcloseandre-openthedoor.IntheAUTOmode,
theheadlamps turnoffoncetheignition   isinLOCK/OFF
orremainsonuntiltheheadlamp   delayends(ifenabled
intheDIC).See“ExitLighting”underDICVehicle
Customization onpage4‑57.
ToturnofftheDRLlamps,turntheexterior     lamps
controltotheOFFposition   andthenrelease. For
vehicles firstsoldinCanada,thetransmission   mustbe
intheP(Park)position,   beforetheDRLlampscanbe
turnedoff.
AutomaticHeadlampSystem
Whenitisdarkenoughoutside,   theautomatic
headlamp systemturnsontheheadlamps  atthenormal
brightness, alongwiththetaillamps,  sidemarker,parking
lamps,andtheinstrument  panellights.Theradiolights
willalsobedim.
DaytimeRunningLamps(DRL)
DaytimeRunningLamps(DRL)canmakeiteasierfor
otherstoseethefrontofyourvehicleduringtheday.
Fullyfunctional daytimerunninglampsarerequired   on
allvehicles firstsoldinCanada.
Toturnofftheautomatic   headlampsystem,turnthe
exterior lampsswitchtotheoffposition   andthen
releaseit.Forvehicles  firstsoldinCanada,the
transmission mustbeintheP(Park)position,   before
theautomatic headlamp systemcanbeturnedoff.
TheDRLsystemcomesonwhenthefollowing
conditions aremet:

Theignition ison.
Thevehiclehasalightsensorlocatedonthetopofthe
instrument panelinthedefroster  grillethatregulates
whentheautomatic  headlamps turnon.Donotcover
thesensorortheheadlamps   willcomeonwhenever  the
ignition ison.
Theexterior lampscontrolisinAUTO.
Theengineisrunning.
Thelightsensordetermines  itisdaytime.
WhentheDRLsystemison,onlytheDRLlampsare
on.Thetaillamps,  sidemarker,instrument panellights,
andotherlampswillnotbeon.
Thesystemmayalsoturnontheheadlamps    when
drivingthroughaparkinggarage,heavyovercast
weather,oratunnel.Thisisnormal.
