Replacethepressurecap.Besurethepressure
capishand-tight  andfullyseated.
Verifycoolantlevelafterengineisshutoffandthe
coolantiscold.Ifnecessary,repeatcoolantfill
procedure Steps1through6.
Notice: Ifthepressure capisnottightlyinstalled,
coolantlossandpossibleenginedamagemay
occur.Besurethecapisproperly    andtightly
secured.
EngineOverheating
Thevehiclehasseveralindicators   towarnofengine
overheating.
Thereisacoolanttemperature   gageonyourvehicle's
instrument panel.SeeEngineCoolantTemperature
Gageonpage4‑35.

Withthecoolantsurgetankpressure   capoff,start
theengineandletitrununtilyoucanfeelthe
upperradiatorhosegettinghot.Watchoutforthe
enginecoolingfan.
Inaddition, ENGINEOVERHEATEDSTOPENGINE,
ENGINEOVERHEATEDIDLEENGINE,andaENGINE
POWERISREDUCEDmessagecomesonintheDriver
Information Center(DIC)ontheinstrument  panel.See
DICWarningsandMessages  onpage4‑48.
Bythistime,thecoolantlevelinsidethecoolant
surgetankmaybelower.Ifthelevelislower,add
moreofthepropermixturetothecoolantsurge
tankuntilthelevelreachestheFULLCOLDmark.
Youmaydecidenottoliftthehoodwhenthiswarning
appears, butinsteadgetservicehelprightaway.See
