Usethisprocedure tocheckthetransmission fluidlevel
whenthetransmission fluidtemperature isbetween
160°F
and200°F(71°Cand93°C).
Thehotcheckisthemostaccurate methodtocheckthe
fluidlevel.Thehotcheckshouldbeperformed atthe
firstopportunity inordertoverifythecoldcheck.The
fluidlevelrisesasfluidtemperature increases, soitis
important toensurethetransmission temperature is
withinrange.

Locatethe
transmission dipstick at
therearoftheengine
compartment, onthe
passenger sideofthe
vehicle.

IfthefluidlevelisbelowtheCOLDcheckband,
addonlyenoughfluidasnecessary tobringthe
levelintotheCOLDband.Itdoesnottakemuch
fluid,generally lessthanonepint(0.5L).Donot
overfill.

Performahotcheckatthefirstopportunity after
thetransmission reachesanormaloperating
temperature between160°Fto200°F(71°C
to93°C).

Ifthefluidlevelisintheacceptable range,push
thedipstickbackinalltheway,thenflipthehandle
downtolockthedipstick inplace.
2. Flipthehandleupandthenpulloutthedipstick
andwipeitwithacleanragorpapertowel.

Installthedipstickbypushingitbackinalltheway,
waitthreeseconds, andthenpullitbackoutagain.
