Gear selection matches vehicle uphill direction (i.e.,
vehicle facing uphill is in forw ard gear; vehicle back-
ing uphill is in R (Reverse) gear).

If you use a trailer brak e con troller with you r
trailer, you r trailer brak es may be activated an d
deactivated with th e brak e sw itch . If so, when th e
brak e ped al is released th ere may not be en ou gh
brak e pressu re to hold th e veh icle an d trailer on a
hill an d th is cou ld cau se a collision with an oth er
veh icle or ob ject beh in d you . In ord er to avoid
rollin g dow n th e hill while resu min g accelera-
tion , man ually activate th e trailer brak e prior to
releasin g th e brak e ped al. Alw ays rem em ber th e
driver is resp on sib le for brak in g th e veh icle.
HSA will work in R (Reverse) and all forw ard gears when
the activation criteria have been met. The system will not
activate if the vehicle is placed in N (Neutral) or P (Park).
WARN ING!
There may be situ ation s on minor hills (i.e., less than
8%),
with a load ed veh icle, or while pullin g a trailer,
when the system will not activate and sligh t rollin g
may occur. This could cause a collision with anoth er
veh icle or object. Alw ays rem ember the driver is
resp onsib le for brak ing the veh icle.
HSA is not a park in g brak e. If you stop th e
veh icle on a hill with ou t puttin g th e tran sm ission
in P (Park ) an d usin g th e park in g brak e, it will
roll dow n th e hill an d cou ld cau se a collision with
an oth er veh icle or ob ject. Alw ays rem em ber to
use th e park in g brak e while park in g on a hill,
an d th at th e driver is resp on sib le for brak in g th e
veh icle.
Towing with HSA
HSA will provid e assistance when starting on a grad e
when pulling a trailer.
