2. Place the hand -held transm itter 1–3 inches (3–8 cm)
from the HomeLink buttons while keep ing the EVIC
display in view.
Before You Begin
If you have not trained any of the HomeLink buttons,
erase all channels before you begin training.
For optimal training, point the battery end of the hand -
held transm itter away from the HomeLink.
To do this, press and hold the two outsid e buttons for 20
second s. The EVIC will display “CLEARIN G CHAN-
NELS.” Release the buttons when the EVIC message
states “CH ANNELS CLEARED.”
3. Simultaneou sly press and hold both the chosen
HomeLink button and the hand -held transm itter button
until the EVIC display changes from “CH ANNEL #
TRAINING” to “CH ANNEL # TRAINED.”
It is recom mend ed that a new battery be placed in the
hand -held transm itter of the device being program med
to HomeLink for more efficient training and accurate
transm ission of the rad io-frequ ency signal.
Then release both the HomeLink and hand -held trans-
mitter buttons.
If the EVIC display states “DID NOT TRAIN” rep eat Step
3. If the signal is too weak, rep lace the battery in the
original hand -held transm itter.
Your vehicle shou ld be parked outsid e of the garage
while training.

Turn the ignition switch to the ON/ RUN position.
It may take up to 30 second s, or longer in rare cases. The
garage door may open & close while you train.
