THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Ignition Key Removal
Place the selector lever in “P” (Park). Turn the key to the
LOCK position, and rem ove the key.
after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK posi-
tion. Opening either front door will cancel this featu re.
The time for this featu re is program mable. For details,
refer to “Delay Pow er Off to Accessories Until Exit,”
und er “Personal Settings (Custom er Program mable
Featu res),” und er “Electronic Vehicle Inform ation
Center (EVIC)” in Section 4 of this manu al.
NOTE:
•
If you try to rem ove the key before you place the
selector lever in “P” (Park), it may becom e trap ped
tem porarily in the ignition switch. If this occurs, rotate
the key to the right slightly, then rem ove the key as
described . If a malfunction occurs, the system will trap
the key in the ignition switch to warn you that this
safety featu re is inop erable. The engine can be started
and stop ped, but the key cannot be rem oved until you
obtain service.

child ren in a veh icle unatten ded is dangerou s for a
number of reason s. A child or oth ers could be seri-
ously or fatally injured . Don’t leave the keys in the
ign ition . A child could operate power windows,
oth er controls, or move the veh icle.
