Operating Tips
smoke, perfu mes, etc.) from sticking to the wind ows.
Contam inates increase the rate of wind ow fogging.
Win dow Foggin g
Wind ows will fog on the insid e when the hu midity insid e
the vehicle is high. This often occurs in mild or cool
tem peratu res when it’s rainy or hu mid. In most cases
turning on the Air-cond itioning (pressing the snow flake
button) will clear the fog. Adjust the tem peratu re control,
air direction and blow er speed to maintain comfort.
Summer Operation
Air cond itioned vehicles must be protected with a high
quality antifreeze coolant during summer to provid e
prop er corrosion protection and to raise the boiling point
of the coolant for protection against overheating. A 50 %
concentration is recom mend ed. Refer to Recom mend ed
Fluids and Genu ine Parts for the prop er coolant typ e.
As the tem peratu re gets colder it may be necessary to
direct air onto the wind shield . Adjust the tem peratu re
control and blow er speed to maintain comfort. Higher
blow er speed s will red uce fogging. Interior fogging on
the wind shield can be quickly rem oved by selecting the
defrost mode.
When using the air cond itioner in extrem ely heavy traffic
in hot weather especially when tow ing a trailer, addi-
tional engine cooling may be requ ired . If this situ ation is
encou ntered , operate the transm ission in a lower gear to
increase engine RPM, coolant flow and fan speed . When
stop ped in heavy traffic, it may be necessary to shift into
N (Neutral) and depress the accelerator slightly for fast
idle operation to increase coolant flow and fan speed .
Regu lar cleaning of the insid e of the wind ows with a
non-film ing cleaning solu tion (vinegar and water works
very well) will help prevent contam inates (cigarette
