STARTING AND OPERATING
Load ing
Improp er weight distribu tions can have an adverse effect
on the way you r vehicle steers and hand les and the way
the brakes operate.
The actu al total weight and the weight of the front and
rear of you r vehicle at the grou nd can best be determ ined
by weighing it when it is load ed and read y for operation.
CAUTIO N!
The entire vehicle shou ld first be weighed on a commer-
cial scale to insu re that the GVWR has not been exceed ed.
The weight on the front and rear of the vehicle shou ld
then be determ ined separately to be sure that the load is
prop erly distribu ted over front and rear axle. Weighing
the vehicle may show that the GAWR of either the front
or rear axles has been exceed ed but the total load is
within the specified GVWR. If so, weight must be shifted
from front to rear or rear to front as approp riate until the
specified weight limitations are met. Store the heavier
item s down low and be sure that the weight is distribu ted
equ ally. Stow all loose item s securely before driving.
Do not load you r veh icle any heavier than the GVWR
or the maxim um fron t and rear GAWR. If you do,
parts on you r veh icle can break , or it can change the
way you r veh icle handles. This could cause you to
lose control. Also overload ing can shorten the life of
you r veh icle.
