Do not use Autom atic Transmission Fluid (ATF) or
oth er typ es of power steerin g flu ids when servicin g
the power steerin g system of this veh icle. Damage to
the power steerin g system can resu lt from the use of
the wron g power steerin g flu id.
Fluid level should be checked on a level surface with
the engin e off to preven t injury from movin g parts,
and to insure accurate flu id level read ing. Do not
overfill. Use only the manufactu rer’s recom mended
flu id.
Checking the power steering fluid level at a defined
service interval is not requ ired . The fluid shou ld only be
checked if a leak is suspected , abnorm al noises are
apparent, and / or the system is not functioning as antici-
pated . Coord inate insp ection efforts throu gh a certified
“Daim lerChrysler Dealership .”
If necessary, add fluid to restore to the prop er ind icated
level. With a clean cloth, wipe any spilled fluid from all
surfaces. Refer to Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu ine Parts
for correct fluid typ e.
NOTE: Upon initial start-u p in cold weather, the power
steering pump may make noise for a short period of time.
This is due to the cold, thick fluid in the steering system .
This noise shou ld be consid ered norm al, and does not in
any way damage the steering system .
