Body Lubrication
Windshield Wiper Blades
Locks and all bod y pivot points, inclu ding such item s as
seat tracks, doors, tailgate and hood hinges, shou ld be
lubricated period ically to assu re quiet, easy operation
and to protect against rust and wear. Prior to the appli-
cation of any lubricant, the parts concerned shou ld be
wiped clean to rem ove dust and grit; after lubricating
excess oil and grease shou ld be rem oved . Particu lar
attention shou ld also be given to hood latching compo-
nents to insu re prop er function. When perform ing other
und erhood services, the hood latch, release mechanism
and safety catch shou ld be cleaned and lubricated .
The rubber edges of the wiper blad es and the wind shield
shou ld be cleaned period ically with a sponge or soft cloth
and a mild nonabrasive cleaner to rem ove accumulations
of salt or road film.
Operation of the wipers on dry glass for long period s
may cause deterioration of the wiper blad es. Alw ays use
washer fluid when using the wipers to rem ove salt or dirt
from a dry wind shield .
Avoid using the wiper blad es to wipe frost or ice from the
wind shield . Keep the blad e rubber out of contact with
petroleu m prod ucts such as engine oil, gasoline, etc.

The external lock cylind ers shou ld be lubricated twice a
year, preferably in the fall and spring. Apply a small
amount of a high quality lubricant such as Mop ar Lock
Cylind er Lubricant directly into the lock cylind er.
Windshield Washers — Front and Rear
On vehicles equ ipped with a Electronic Vehicle Inform a-
tion Center (EVIC), the low washer fluid level will be
ind icated . When the sensor detects a low fluid level, the
wind shield will light on the vehicle grap hic outline and
the “Washer Fluid Low” message will be displayed .
