Cargo must be securely tied before drivin g your ve-
hicle. Improperly secured load s can fly off the vehicle,
particu larly at high speeds, resu ltin g in person al in-
jury or property damage. Follow the Roof Rack Cau-
tion s when carryin g cargo on your roof rack.
To avoid dam age to th e roof rack an d veh icle, do not
exceed th e maxim um roof rack load cap acity of 150
lb s (68 kg). Alw ays distrib ute heavy load s as even ly
as possib le an d secu re th e load ap prop riately.
LOAD LEVELING SYSTEM
The autom atic load leveling system will provid e a level
rid ing vehicle und er most passenger and cargo load ing
cond itions.
Lon g load s which exten d over th e win dsh ield , su ch
as wood pan els or su rfb oard s, or load s with large
fron tal area sh ou ld be secu red to both th e fron t an d
rear of th e veh icle.
A hyd rau lic pump contained within the shock absorbers
raises the rear of the vehicle to the correct height. It takes
approxim ately 1 mile (1.6 km) of driving for the leveling
to complete depend ing on road surface cond itions.
Travel at red uced sp eed s an d tu rn corn ers carefu lly
when carryin g large or heavy load s on th e roof rack .
Win d forces, due to natu ral cau ses or nearb y tru ck
traffic, can ad d su dden upward lift to load s. Th is is
esp ecially tru e on large flat load s an d may resu lt in
dam age to th e cargo or you r veh icle.
If the leveled vehicle is not moved for approxim ately 15
hou rs, the leveling system will bleed itself down. The
vehicle must be driven to reset the system .
