FUEL REQUIREMENTS
GASOLINE ENGINES
The 3.8L engine is designed to meet all
emissions regu lations and provid e excel-
lent fuel econom y and perform ance when
using high quality unlead ed “regu lar”
gasoline having an octane rating of 87. The
use of prem ium gasoline is not recom -
using high quality unlead ed gasoline having an octane
range of 87 to 89. The manu factu rer recom mend s the use
of 89 octane for optimum perform ance. The use of
prem ium gasoline is not recom mend ed. Und er norm al
cond itions, the use of prem ium gasoline will not provid e
a benefit over high quality regu lar and mid-grad e gaso-
lines, and in som e circumstances may resu lt in poorer
perform ance.

Light spark knock at low engine speed s is not harm ful to 5
