STARTING AND OPERATING
Automatic Transmission Ignition Interlock System
This system prevents the key from being rem oved unless
the shift lever is in PARK. It also prevents shifting out of
PARK unless the key is in the ACCESSORY or ON
position.

pressed , the shifter can be moved out of the park position
withou t pressing the brake. After operation retu rn the
shifter bezel ring to its original position.
NOTE: If a malfunction occurs, the system will trap the
key in the ignition cylind er to warn you that this safety
featu re is inop erable. The engine can be started and
stop ped but the key cannot be rem oved until you obtain
service.
Reset Mode - Electronic Transmission
For electrical system malfunctions there is an overrid e for
the interlock system . In ord er to overrid e this system the
key must be in the ignition with the switch in the ACC or
ON positions. Pull up and rearw ard on the shifter bezel
ring.

NOTE: Even if the transm ission can be reset, it is
recom mend ed that you visit a dealer at you r earliest
The overrid e can be activated by pressing the pink-
colored tab, which can be accessed throu gh the lower
