THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
If A Deploym ent Occurs
However, if you haven’t healed significantly within a
few days, or if you have any blistering, see you r doctor
immediately.
The airbag system is designed to deploy the airbags
when the ORC and impact sensors detect a moderate-to-
severe collision, to help restrain the vehicle passengers,
and then immediately deflate.

•
As the airbags deflate you may see som e smoke-like
particles. The particles are a norm al by-p rod uct of the
process that generates the nontoxic gas used for airbag
inflation. These airborne particles may irritate the skin,
eyes, nose, or throat. If you have skin or eye irritation,
rinse the area with cool water. For nose or throat
irritation, move to fresh air. If the irritation continu es,
see you r doctor. If these particles settle on you r
clothing, follow the garm ent manu factu rer’s instru c-
tions for cleaning.
NOTE: A collision that is not severe enou gh to need
airbag protection will not activate the system . This does
not mean som ething is wrong with the airbag system .
If you do have a collision which deploys the airbags, any
or all of the follow ing may occur:
•
The nylon airbag material may som etim es cause abra-
sions and / or skin red dening to the driver and front
passenger as the airbags deploy and unfold . The
abrasions are similar to friction rop e burns or those
you might get sliding along a carp et or gym nasiu m
floor. They are not caused by contact with chem icals.
They are not perm anent and norm ally heal quickly.
It is not advisable to drive you r vehicle after the
airbags have deployed . If you are involved in another
collision, the airbags will not be in place to protect you .
