Extremely Cold Weather Starting (BelowϪ20°F /
The gear selector must be in the NEUTRAL or PARK
position before you can start the engine. Dep ress the
brake pedal before shifting into any driving gear.

Normal Starting (Above 32°F / 0°C)
To insu re reliable starting at these tem peratu res, use of an
externally powered electric engine block heater (available
from you r dealer) is recom mend ed.

Do not depress the accelerator.

Turn and hold the ignition key in the START position
High Altitude Starting (Above 4,000 ft. / 1 219 m)
Follow the sam e instru ctions in the “Norm al Starting”
proced ure.
and release when engine starts.
If engine does not start after 3 second s, depress the
accelerator lightly (while still cranking the engine).
If engine does not start after 15 second s, turn the
ignition key off.
Wait 10 to 15 second s, and rep eat step s 1 — 5.

NOTE: This veh icle is equipped with a tran smission
shift interlock ing system . The brak e pedal must be
depressed to shift out of Park (P).
