STARTING AND OPERATING

If the gas cap is not tighten prop erly, the Malfu nction
Ind icator Light may come on. Be sure the gas cap is
tightened every time the vehicle is refu eled .

Never have any smoking materials lit in or near
the veh icle when the gas cap is rem oved or the
tan k filled .
WARN ING!
Never add fuel when the engin e is running. This is
in violation of most state and fed eral fire regu la-
tion s and may cause the malfu nction indicator
ligh t to turn on.
A fire may resu lt if gasolin e is pumped into a
portab le contain er that is insid e of a veh icle. You
could be burned. Alw ays place gas contain ers on the
grou nd while fillin g.

Failu re to follow the above may resu lt in seriou s
injury or even death .
Loose Fuel Filler Cap Message

If the gASCAP message is displayed in the instru ment
cluster, this signifies a leak or change in the evap ora-
tive system is detected . Sometim es this is the resu lt of
a loosely fitting (or possibly damaged ) filler cap.
NOTE:
Tighten the fuel filler cap until you hear a “clicking”
sou nd . This is an ind ication that the fuel filler cap is
prop erly tightened .
