STARTING AND OPERATING
Improp er alignm ent will not cause vehicle vibration.
Vibration may be a resu lt of tire and wheel out-of-
balance. Prop er balancing will red uce vibration and
avoid tire cupping and spotty wear.
CAUTIO N!
To avoid damage to you r veh icle or tires, observe the follow ing
precau tion s:

Becau se of restricted chain clearan ce betw een tires and oth er
suspension components, it is importan t that only chain s in
good condition are used . Brok en chain s can cause seriou s
damage. Stop the veh icle immediately if noise occurs that
could indicate chain break age. Rem ove the damaged parts of
the chain before furth er use.
TIRE CHAINS
Use only compact chains, or other traction aid s that meet
SAE typ e “Class S” specifications. Chains must be the
prop er size for the vehicle, as recom mend ed by the chain
manu factu rer.

Install chain s on the fron t wheels as tigh tly as possib le and
then retigh ten after drivin g about 1⁄
mile (0.8 km).

Do not exceed 45 mph (70 km/h).
NOTE: Do not use tire chains on a compact spare tire.
Drive cautiou sly and avoid severe turns and large bumps,
esp ecially with a load ed veh icle.

If chain s are used on an All Wheel Drive (AWD) veh icle, they
should be used on all fou r tires.
•

Do not drive for prolon ged period on dry pavem ent.
Observe the tire chain manufactu rer’s instru ction s on the
meth od of installation , operatin g speed , and condition s for
use. Alw ays use the low er suggested operatin g speed of the
chain manufactu rer if differen t than the speed recom mended
by the manufactu re.
