To avoid veh icle damage, the Rear Park Assist
should only be used as a park ing aid and is unable
to recogn ize every obstacle, including small ob-
jects. Park ing curbs migh t be tem porarily detected
or not detected at all. Obstacles located above or
below the sen sors will not be detected when they
are in close proxim ity to the rear of the veh icle.
To avoid veh icle damage, the veh icle must be
driven slow ly when usin g the Rear Park Assist, to
be able to stop in tim e when an obstacle is
detected . It is recom mended that you look over
you r shoulder when usin g the Rear Park Assist.
Enablin g and Disab lin g The Rear Park Assist
There are times when you may want to disable the Rear
Park Assist, such as when tow ing a trailer.
Vehicles Equipped Wit h the Electronic Vehicle
Informa tion Cent er (EVIC)
You can turn the Rear Park Assist ON or OFF throu gh the
EVIC. For details, refer to “Personal Settings (Custom er-
Program mable Featu res)” und er “Electronic Vehicle In-
form ation Center (EVIC)” in Section 4.

Vehicles Equipped Wit h the Compa ss Mini-Trip
Comput er (CMTC)
You can turn the Rear Park Assist ON or OFF throu gh the
CMTC by pressing the left reset button in the instru ment
cluster. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then
press and hold the RESET button for approxim ately two
second s.
NOTE:
Ensu re that the rear bumper is free of dirt and debris
to keep the system operating prop erly.
