NOTE: This veh icle is equipped with a tran saxle shift
interlock ing system . The brak e pedal must be pressed
to shift out of PARK.

Do not attem pt to push or tow you r veh icle to get
it started . Vehicles equipped with an autom atic
tran saxle cannot be started this way. Unburned
fuel could enter the catalytic converter and once
the engin e has started , ign ite and damage the
converter and veh icle.
If the veh icle has a disch arged battery, booster
cables may be used to obtain a start from a booster 5
battery or the battery in anoth er veh icle. This typ e
of start can be dangerou s if done improp erly. Refer
to “Jump Startin g” in Section 6 of this manual.
Extreme Cold Weather (BelowϪ20°F or –29°C)
Follow the sam e instru ctions in the “Norm al Starting”
proced ure.
To ensu re reliable starting at these tem peratu res, use of
an externally powered electric engine block heater (avail-
able from you r authorized dealer) is recom mend ed.
If The Engine Fails To Start
WARN ING!
If the engine fails to start after you have follow ed the
“Norm al Starting” proced ure, it may be flood ed. Push
the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold it
there while cranking the engine. This shou ld clear any
excess fuel in case the engine is flood ed.

Never pour fuel or oth er flam mable liq uids into
the throttle body air inlet opening in an attem pt to
start the veh icle. This could resu lt in a flash fire
causin g seriou s person al injury.
