the autom atic transm ission shift lever into PARK and
turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for both
vehicles.

Take special care to avoid the rad iator coolin g fan
whenever the hood is raised . The coolin g fan is
electrically operated and can start anytim e the
ign ition switch is ON. You can be hurt by the fan .
Durin g cold weath er when tem peratu res are be-
low the freezin g poin t, electrolyte in a disch arged
battery may freeze. Do not attem pt jump-startin g
becau se the battery could rupture or explod e. The
battery tem peratu re must be brou ght up above the
freezin g poin t before attem ptin g a jump-start.

Turn off the heater, rad io and all unnecessary electrical
load s.

Connect one end of a jumper cable to the positive
term inal of the discharged battery. Connect the other end
of the sam e cable to the positive term inal of the booster
battery.

WARN ING!
When jump-starting, proceed as follow s:
Wear eye protection and rem ove any metal jewelry,
such as watch band s or bracelets, that might make an
inad vertent electrical contact.
Do not perm it veh icles to tou ch each oth er, as this
could estab lish a grou nd connection and person al
injury could resu lt.
