STARTING AND OPERATING

The use of lead ed gas is prohibited by Federal law. Carbon Monoxide Warnings
Using lead ed gasoline can impair engine perform ance
and damage the emission control system .
WARN ING!
•
An out-of-tu ne engine, or certain fuel or ignition
malfunctions, can cause the catalytic converter to
overheat. If you notice a pungent burning odor or
som e light smoke, you r engine may be out of tune or
malfunctioning and may requ ire immediate service.
Contact you r authorized dealer for service assistance.
Carb on monoxid e (CO) in exhaust gases is dead ly.
•
To preven t carb on monoxid e poison ing DO NOT
inhale exhaust gases. They contain carb on monox-
ide, a colorless and odorless gas which can kill.
NEVER run the engin e in a closed area, such as a
garage, and NEVER sit in a park ed veh icle with
the engin e running for an exten ded period . If the
veh icle is stop ped in an open area with the engin e
running for more than a short period , adjust the
ven tilation system to force fresh , outsid e air into
the veh icle.

The use of fuel additives which are now being sold as
octane enhancers is not recom mend ed. Most of these
prod ucts contain high concentrations of methanol.
Fuel system damage or vehicle perform ance problem s
resu lting from the use of such fuels or additives is not
the resp onsibility of the manu factu rer.
