brakes. This can help red uce braking distances. The BAS
complements the ABS. Applying the brakes very quickly
resu lts in the best BAS assistance. To receive the benefit of
the system , you must apply continu ous braking pressu re
during the stop ping sequ ence. Do not red uce brake pedal
pressu re unless braking is no longer desired . Once the
brake pedal is released , the BAS is deactivated .

the vehicle’s braking capability during emergency brak-
ing maneu vers. The system detects an emergency brak-
