WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES
HAZARD WARNING FLASHER
IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS

In city traffic — While stop ped, shift the transm ission
shift lever into NEUTRAL, but do not increase engine
idle speed .
This is an emergency warning system and shou ld not be
used when the vehicle is in motion. Use it when you r
vehicle is disabled and is creating a safety hazard for
other motorists.
NOTE: There are step s that you can take to slow down
an impend ing overheat cond ition:
• Ifsystemyou r airadcondds heatitionerto the(A/ C)engineis on,coolingturn it off.systemThe A/andC
turning the A/ C can help rem ove this heat.
When you must leave the vehicle to seek assistance, the
Hazard Warning flasher will continu e to operate even
thou gh the ignition switch is OFF.
NOTE: With extend ed use, the Hazard Warning flasher
may wear down you r battery.
