the transm ission fluid be maintained at the prescribed
level using the recom mend ed fluid. No chem ical flushes
shou ld be used in any transaxle; only the approved
lubricant may be used .
The fluid level in the autom atic transaxle shou ld be
checked whenever the vehicle is serviced . Operation with
an improp er fluid level will greatly red uce the life of the
transaxle and the fluid.
All four–sp eed transaxles are equ ipped with a conven-
tional filler tube and dipstick. If fluid is added, it shou ld
be added throu gh the filler tube.
CAUTIO N!
Usin g a tran smission flu id oth er than the manufac-
turer’s recom mended flu id may cause deterioration
in tran saxle shift quality and/or torq ue converter
shudder. Usin g a tran smission flu id oth er than the
manufactu rer’s recom mended flu id will resu lt in
more freq uent flu id and filter changes. Refer to
“Flu ids, Lubrican ts and Genuine Parts” in this sec-
tion for the correct flu id typ e.
All six–sp eed transaxles are equ ipped with a capped
dipstick tube. It is sealed and shou ld not be tam pered
with. Your authorized dealer has the necessary tools to
ensu re that the fluid level is set prop erly.

It is important that the prop er lubricant is used in the
