Connect the other cable, first to the negative term inal
WARN ING!
of the booster battery, and then to the engine of the
vehicle with the discharged battery. Make sure there is a
good contact on the engine.
Any proced ure oth er than the jump-startin g process

WARN ING!
Do not connect the cable to the negative post of the
disch arge battery. The resu ltin g electrical spark could
cause the battery to explod e.

Start the engine in the vehicle that has the booster
battery. Let the engine idle a few minu tes, then start the FREEING A STUCK VEHICLE
engine in the vehicle with the discharged battery. If you r vehicle becom es stu ck in mud, sand or snow, it
can often be moved by a rocking motion. Turn you r
steering wheel right and left to clear the area arou nd the
front wheels. Then move the shift lever back and forth
betw een REVERSE and DRIVE. Using minim al accelera-
tor pedal pressu re to maintain the rocking motion, with-
out spinning the wheels, is most effective.
