How  to Disen  gage  the  Autom atic  Locking  Mode

able  on all  passenger-seating    positions   with  a combina-
tion  lap/ shou lder  belt.
Disconnect  the  combination  lap/  shou lder  belt and  allow
it  to   retract   completely    to   disengage   the   Autom atic
Locking  Mod e and  activate  the  Vehicle Sensitive   (Emer-
gency)  Locking  mode.
When  to  Use the  Autom  atic Locking   Mode
Use the  Autom atic Locking  Mod e anytim e  a child safety
seat is  installed  in a passenger   seating  position.  Child ren
Seat Belt Pretensioners
The   seat   belts   for   both   front   seating    positions    are
equ ipped  with pretensioning   devices  that  are designed  to
rem ove slack from  the seat  belt in the  event of a collision.
These  devices  improve   the  perform ance  of the  seat  belt
by assu ring  that the  belt is tight  abou t the occupant   early
in a  collision.  Pretensioners   work  for  all size  occupants,

years  old  and  you nger shou ld  be prop erly  restrained
in the  rear  seat  whenever  possible.
How  to Use  the  Autom atic  Locking  Mode
1.
Buckle  the combination   lap/  shou lder  belt.
2.
Grasp  the  shou lder portion   and  pull  downw ard  until    inclu ding  those  in  child restraints.
