km/ h). Avoid attem pting to engage or disengage 4LO
and force the front and rear wheels to rotate at the sam e
speed . The 4LO position is intend ed for loose, slippery
road surfaces only. Driving in the 4LO position on dry
hard surfaced road s may cause increased tire wear and
damage to driveline components.
Quadra-Trac IIா Operating
Instructions/Precautions — If Equipped
The Quadra-Trac II transfer case is fully autom atic in the
norm al driving 4 ALL TIME mode. The Quadra-Trac II
transfer case provid es three mode positions — four wheel
drive high range, neu tral, and four wheel drive low
range.
When operating you r vehicle in 4LO, the engine speed is
approxim ately three times that of the 4 ALL TIME
position at a given road speed . Take care not to oversp eed
the engine and do not exceed 25 mph (40 km/ h).

Prop er operation of four wheel drive vehicles depend s on
tires of equ al size, typ e, and circumference on each
wheel. Any difference will adversely affect shifting and
cause damage to the transfer case.
This transfer case is fully autom atic in the 4 ALL TIME
mode. The 4 ALL TIME mode transm its torqu e to the rear
axle during norm al driving, similar to a rear wheel drive
vehicle. When speed difference is increased betw een the
front and rear driveshafts the majority of engine torqu e
can be transm itted to the front driveshaft.
Because four wheel drive provid es improved traction,
there is a tend ency to exceed safe turning and stop ping
speed s. Do not go faster than road cond itions perm it.
When additional traction is requ ired , the 4LO position
can be used to lock the front and rear driveshafts together
