airbag control module based on collision severity. The
steering wheel hu b trim cover and the upper right side
of the instru ment panel separate and fold out of the
way as the bags inflate to their full size. The bags fully
inflate in abou t 30–70 millisecond s. This is abou t half
of the time it takes to blink you r eyes. The bags then
quickly deflate while help ing to restrain the driver and
front passenger.
