THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
NOTE: The follow ing step s must occur within the first
second s of the ignition switch being turned to the ON

Seat Belts and Pregnant Women
1.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and
We recom mend that pregnant women use the seat belts
throu ghou t their pregnancy. Keeping the mother safe is
the best way to keep the baby safe.
2.
Start the engine, and wait for the Seat Belt Warning
Light to turn off.
Pregnant women shou ld wear the lap part of the belt
across the thighs and as snu g across the hip s as possible.
Keep the belt low so that it does not come across the
abd omen. That way the strong bones of the hip s will take
the force if there is a collision.
3.
Within 60 second s of starting the vehicle, unbu ckle
and then re-bu ckle the driver’s seat belt at least three
times, end ing with the seat belt buckled .
4.
Turn off the engine. A single chim e will sou nd to
signify that you have successfu lly completed the pro-
gram ming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reacti-
vated by rep eating this proced ure.
