THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
In general, you will first loosen the adjusters on the lower
and tether strap s so that you can more easily attach the
hook or connector to the lower and tether anchorages.
The tether strap shou ld be rou ted und er the center of the
head restraint and attached to the tether anchor above the
rear liftgate opening behind each rear outboard seat.
Then tighten all three strap s as you push the child
restraint rearw ard and downw ard into the seat.
Child ren Too Large for Booster Seats
Child ren who are large enou gh to wear the shou lder belt
comfortably, and whose legs are long enou gh to bend
over the front of the seat when their back is against the
seat back shou ld use the lap/ shou lder belt in a rear seat.
•
•
Make sure that the child is upright in the seat.
The lap portion shou ld be low on the hip s and as snu g
as possible.
Not all child restraint system s will be installed as we
have described here. Again, carefu lly follow the instru c-
tions that come with the child restraint system .

Check belt fit period ically. A child ’s squ irm ing or
slou ching can move the belt out of position.
If the shou lder belt contacts the face or neck, move the
child closer to the center of the vehicle. If this doesn’t
help , move the child to the center rear seating position
and use the lap belt. Never allow a child to put the
shou lder belt und er an arm or behind their back.
WARN ING!
Improp er installation of a child restrain t to the
LATCH anchorages can lead to failu re of an infan t or
child restrain t. The child could be badly injured or
killed . Follow the manufactu rer’s direction s exactly
when installin g an infan t or child restrain t.
