It is recom mend ed that any hitches installed on you r
vehicle be factory installed , or installed by a dealer
using factory approved parts. Factory approved parts
are specifically engineered with you r vehicle’s perfor-
mance in mind , inclu ding the possibility that it will be
involved in an accident. Other hitches may not have
been so engineered . Vehicle perform ance, inclu ding
vehicle damage in an accident situ ation, may therefore
be different.
Trailer and Tongue Weight
Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) means the weight of the
trailer plus the weight of all cargo, consu mables and
equipment load ed on the trailer when in actual underway
towing cond ition. The best way to measu re GTW is to put
your fully load ed trailer on a vehicle scale. The entire
weight of the trailer must be supported by the scale.

If trailer tow ing is requ ired and you r vehicle is not
equ ipped with a trailer tow package, the Mop ar
accessory tow ing harnesses are the only approved
method to provid e for trailer lights. These harnesses
are designed to provid e current to the trailer lights but
byp ass the module designed to monitor tail lights.
