Intern al damage to the tran sfer case will occur if a
fron t or rear wheel lift is used when recreation al
tow ing.
When pullin g a heavy load or drivin g a fully load ed
veh icle use a prem ium unlead ed fuel to help preven t
spark knock. If spark knock persists, ligh ten the
load . Otherw ise, engin e piston damage may resu lt.

NOTE: The transfer case must be in the N (Neutral)
position, and the transm ission must be in the P (Park)
position for recreational tow ing. (Recreation al tow ing is
not availab le on Quadra-Trac I equipped veh icles.)
Other restrictions apply concerning trailer typ e, trailer
frontal area and tongu e weight. Carefu lly review the
“Minim um Vehicle Requ irem ents” chart in this section
before tow ing a trailer.
