Adaptive   Cru ise  Con trol (ACC)  is  a conven  ien ce system .  It is
not  a substitu  te for  active  drivin g involvem  ent.  It is alw ays  the
driver ’s   resp onsib ility   to   be  atten tive   of   road ,  traffic,   and

When   drivin g  in   fog;  heavy   rain ;  heavy   snow;
sleet;   heavy   traffic;  and   complex   drivin  g  situ a-

The  ACC system  :
Does  not  react  to  pedestrian  s, oncoming   veh icles,  and  station  -
ary  objects  (i.e. a  stop ped  veh icle in  a traffic  jam  or a  disab led
veh icle).
When  circu mstan ces do not  allow  safe  drivin g at a
constan t  speed .
Does   not   pred ict   the   lan e  curvatu  re  or   the   movem ent   of
preced ing  veh icles  and  will  not  compensate   for  such  changes.
Failu re  to  follow   these   warn ings   can  resu lt  in  an
accid ent  or seriou s  person al  injury.
Can not tak e street,  traffic,  and  weath er condition   s into accou nt,
and  may  be  lim ited upon   adverse  sigh t  distan ce  condition  s.
Does  not   alw ays fully   recogn ize  complex   drivin g  condition  s,
which  can  resu lt in  wron g  or missin  g distan ce  warn ings.
May  not detect  a  veh icle ahead  when  stron g  ligh t (for exam ple,
sunrise  or  sunset)  is directly   shining  on  the fron t of  the veh icle.
Can  only   apply   a maxim um   of  25% of  the   veh icle’s brak ing
capability,   and  will  not  brin g the  veh icle  to a complete   stop .
