Engin e Oil Viscosity (SAE Grad e) — 3.5L Engin e
SAE 10W-30 engine oil is preferred for use in 3.5L
Engines within the operating tem peratu res show n in the
engine oil viscosity chart. SAE 5W-30 Engine Oil is
allow ed for use in the 3.5L Engine during cold weather
only to improve cold weather starting.
In areas where these grad es are not generally available,
higher SAE grad es may be used . Lubricants that have
both an SAE grad e nu mber and the API Certification
Symbol or ACEA category show n on the container
shou ld be used .
Lubricants that do not have both the engine oil certifica-
tion mark and the correct SAE viscosity grad e nu mber
shou ld not be used .
Syn thetic Engin e Oils
You may use synthetic engine oils provid ed the recom -
mend ed oil quality requ irem ents are met, and the recom -
mend ed maintenance intervals for oil and filter changes
are follow ed.

Materials Added to Engin e Oil
The manu factu rer strongly recom mend s against the ad-
dition of any additives (other than leak detection dyes) to
the engine oil. Engine oil is an engineered prod uct and its
perform ance may be impaired by supplemental addi-
tives.

The engine oil filler cap also show s the recom mend ed
engine oil viscosity for you r engine. For inform ation on
engine oil filler cap location, refer to the “Engine Com -
partm ent” illustration in this section.
