STARTING AND OPERATING
Base System — If Equipped
as possible, check the inflation pressu re of each tire on
you r vehicle, and inflate each tire to the vehicle’s recom -
mend ed cold placard pressu re valu e. Once the system
receives the updated tire pressu res, the system will
autom atically update and the Tire Pressu re Monitoring
Telltale Light will turn off. The vehicle may need to be
driven for up to 10 minu tes above 15 mph (25 km/ h) in
ord er for the TPMS to receive this inform ation. Low
pressu re in the spare tire will not cause the Tire Pressu re
Monitoring Telltale Light to illuminate or the chim e to
sou nd .
The Tire Pressu re Monitor System (TPMS) uses wireless
technology with wheel rim mounted electronic sensors to
monitor tire pressu re levels. Sensors, mounted to each
wheel as part of the valve stem , transm it tire pressu re
read ings to the Receiver Mod ule.
NOTE: It is particu larly important for you to check the
tire pressu re in all of the tires on you r vehicle regu larly
and to maintain the prop er pressu re.
The TPMS consists of the follow ing components:

Tire Pressu re Monitorin g Low Pressu re Warn ings
The Tire Pressu re Monitoring Telltale Light will
illuminate in the instru ment cluster and an audible
chim e will sou nd when tire pressu re is low in one
or more of the four active road tires. The audible chim e
will sou nd once every ignition cycle for each cond ition
that it detects. Shou ld this occur, you shou ld stop as soon

Check TPM S Warn ing
The Tire Pressu re Monitoring Telltale Light will flash on
and off for 60 second s and an audible chim e will sou nd
when a system fault is detected . The flash cycle will
rep eat every ten minu tes, withou t an audible chim e, until
the fault cond ition no longer exists. If the ignition key is
cycled , this sequ ence will rep eat, provid ing the system
fault still exists.

NOTE: The compact spare tire (if so equ ipped) does not
have a tire pressu re monitoring sensor. Therefore, the
TPMS will not monitor the pressu re in the compact spare
