WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES

NOTE: There are step s that you can take to slow down
an impend ing overheat cond ition. If you r air cond itioner
is on, turn it off. The air cond itioning system adds heat to
the engine cooling system and turning off the A/ C
rem oves this heat. You can also turn the Temperatu re
control to maxim um heat, the Mod e control to floor, and
the fan control to HI. This allow s the heater core to act as
a supplement to the rad iator and aid s in rem oving heat
from the engine cooling system .
WARN ING!
A hot engin e coolin g system is dangerou s. You or
oth ers could be badly burned by steam or boilin g
coolan t. You may want to call a service center if you r
veh icle overh eats. If you decid e to look under the
hood you rself, see Section 7, Main ten ance, of this
manual. Follow the warn ings under the Coolin g
System Pressu re Cap paragrap h.

CAUTIO N!
Drivin g with a hot coolin g system could damage
you r veh icle. If tem peratu re gau ge read s “H”, pull
over and stop the veh icle. Idle the veh icle with the
air condition er turned off until the poin ter drop s
back into the norm al ran ge. If the poin ter rem ain s on
the “H”, turn the engin e off immediately, and call for
service.
