Identification Sym bol
This sym bol means that the oil has
been certified by the American
Petroleu m Institu te (API). The
NOTE: Vehicles equ ipped with a 5.7L engine must use
SAE 5W-20 oil. Failu re to do so may resu lt in improp er
operation of the Multiple Disp lacem ent System (MDS).

In areas where these grad es are not generally available,
higher SAE grad es may be used . Lubricants that have
both an SAE grad e nu mber and the API Certification
Symbol or ACEA category show n on the container
shou ld be used .
Engin e Oil Viscosity (SAE Grad e) — 2.7L and 5.7L
Engin es
SAE 5W-20 engine oil is recom mend ed for all operating
tem peratu res. This engine oil improves low tem peratu re
starting and vehicle fuel econom y.
Lubricants that do not have both the engine oil certifica-
tion mark and the correct SAE viscosity grad e nu mber
shou ld not be used .
The engine oil filler cap also show s the recom mend ed
engine oil viscosity for you r engine. For inform ation on
engine oil filler cap location, refer to the “Engine Com -
partm ent” illustration in this section.
