failu re.
13. Electronic Stabilit y Progra m (ESP)/Traction
Cont rol Syst em (TCS) Indica tor Light
If this ind icator light flashes during accelera-
tion, ease up on the accelerator and apply as
little throttle as possible. Adapt you r speed
and driving to the prevailing road cond i-
tions, and do not switch off the ESP or TCS — if
equ ipped. (See page 257 for more inform ation.) (See
page 259 for more inform ation.)
The operation of the Brake Warning Light can be checked
by turning the ignition switch from the OFF position to
the ON position. The light shou ld turn on for approxi-
mately two second s and then turn off. The light will
rem ain on if the parking brake is applied or if a brake
fault is detected . If the parking brake is not applied and
the light rem ains on, or if the light does not turn on, have
the light insp ected by an authorized dealer.
14. Temperature Gauge
The tem peratu re gau ge show s engine coolant tem pera-
ture. Any read ing within the norm al range ind icates that
the engine cooling system is operating satisfactorily.
NOTE: The light will turn on when the ignition switch
in the ON position and the parking brake is applied. This
light show s only that the parking brake is applied. It does
not show the degree of brake application. (See page 253
for more inform ation.)
The gau ge pointer will likely ind icate a higher tem pera-
ture when driving in hot weather, up mountain grad es,
or when tow ing a trailer. It shou ld not be allow ed to
exceed the upper limits of the norm al operating range.
