Engine Air Cleaner Filter
Fuel Filter
For norm al driving cond itions, insp ect and rep lace the
engine air cleaner filter at the intervals show n on Sched -
ule “A.” For vehicles driven frequ ently in dusty or und er
severe cond itions, insp ect and rep lace the engine air
cleaner filter at the intervals show n on Sched ule “B.”
A plugged fuel filter can cause stalling, limit the speed at
which a vehicle can be driven or cause hard starting.
Shou ld an excessive amount of dirt accumulate in the
fuel tank, filter rep lacem ent may be necessary. See you r
local dealer for service.
Catalytic Converter
WARN ING!
The catalytic converter requ ires the use of unlead ed fuel
only. Lead ed gasoline will destroy the effectiveness of the
catalyst as an emission control device.
The air induction system (air clean er, hoses, etc) can
provid e a measu re of protection in the case of engin e
backfire. Do not rem ove the air induction system (air
clean er, hoses, etc) unless such rem oval is necessary
for rep air or main ten ance. Make sure that no one is
near the engin e compartm ent before startin g the
veh icle with the air induction system (air clean er,
hoses, etc) rem oved . Failu re to do so can resu lt in
seriou s person al injury.
Und er norm al operating cond itions, the catalytic con-
verter will not requ ire maintenance. However, it is im-
portant to keep the engine prop erly tuned to assu re
prop er catalyst operation and prevent possible catalyst
damage.
