Connect one end of the jumper cable to the rem ote

jump-start positive battery post (+) in the engine com-
partm ent. Connect the other end of the sam e cable to the
positive term inal of the booster battery. Refer to the
follow ing illustration for jump-starting connections.

Do not connect the cable to the negative post of
the disch arge battery. The resu ltin g electrical
spark could cause the battery to explod e.

Connect the other cable, first to the negative term inal
of the booster battery and then to the engin e grou nd (-)
of the veh icle with the disch arged battery. Make sure
you have a good contact on the engine grou nd . Refer to
the follow ing illustration for jump-starting connections.

Start the engine in the vehicle that has the booster
battery. Let the engine idle a few minu tes. Then, start the
engine in the vehicle with the discharged battery.
NOTE: For vehicles equ ipped with ESP, refer to ЉSyn-
chronizing ESPЉ und er ЉElectronic Stability Program Љ in
Section 5 of this manu al if the ESP/ BAS light (in the
instru ment cluster) rem ains on continu ously after start-
ing the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery.
