When rem oving the jumper cables, reverse the above

sequ ence exactly. Be carefu l of the moving belts and fan.
If you r vehicle becom es stu ck in mud, sand , or snow, it
can often be moved by a rocking motion. Turn you r
steering wheel right and left to clear the area arou nd the
front wheels. Then shift back and forth betw een Reverse
and Drive. Usu ally the least accelerator pedal pressu re to
maintain the rocking motion withou t spinning the
wheels is most effective.

Any proced ure oth er than above could resu lt in:

Person al injury caused by electrolyte squirtin g
out the battery ven t;
Person al injury or prop erty damage due to battery
explosion ;

NOTE: Turn off the Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
— if equ ipped, or Traction Control System (TCS) — if
equ ipped before rocking the vehicle. For details, refer to
“Electronic Stability Program ,” or “Traction Control Sys-
tem ” in this manu al.

of immobilized veh icle.
