If the ABS light is on, the brake system shou ld be serviced
as soon as possible to restore the benefits of Anti-Lock
brakes. If the ABS light does not turn on when the
Ignition switch is turned to the ON position, have the
light insp ected by an authorized dealer.
The red segm ents ind icate the maxim um perm issible
engine revolu tions-p er-m inu te (r.p.m. x 1000) for each
gear range. Before reaching the red area, ease up on the
accelerator.

Engine Temperature Warning Light
10. Brake Assist Syst em (BAS) Warning
This light illuminates, and will be accom panied
by a single chim e to warn of an overheated
engine cond ition. The engine tem peratu re is
critically hot, and the vehicle shou ld be turned off
immediately. The vehicle shou ld be serviced as soon
as possible.
Light /Elect ronic Stabilit y Progra m (ESP) Warning
Light — If Equipped

The yellow Brake Assist System (BAS) mal-
function ind icator light in the instru ment
cluster comes on with the key in the ignition
switch turned to the “ON ” position. The
light shou ld go out with the engine running. If the
BAS malfunction ind icator light comes on continu -
ously with the engine running, a malfunction has been
detected in either the BAS, or the Electronic Stability
Program (ESP) system . If this light stays illuminated ,
have the BAS and ESP checked at you r authorized
dealer as soon as possible.

Anti-Lock Brake Light
This light monitors the Anti-Lock Brake System .
The light will turn on when the ignition switch
is turned to the ON position and may stay on for as
long as four second s.
If the ABS light rem ains on or turns on while driving, it
ind icates that the Anti-Lock portion of the brake system
is not functioning and that service is requ ired . However,
the conventional brake system will continu e to operate
norm ally if the BRAKE warning light is not on.
The yellow malfunction ind icator lamp for
the ESP is combined with the BAS on som e
models. The yellow BAS malfunction ind ica-
tor light and the yellow ESP warning light in
