STARTING AND OPERATING
is not  functioning  and  that  service  is requ ired . However,
the  conventional   brake  system   will  continu e to  operate
norm ally if  the BRAKE warning   light  is not  on.
You  also may  experience   the  follow ing  when  the  brake
system  goes  into Anti-lock:
The ABS motor  running   (it may  continu  e to run  for  a
short  time  after  the stop ),
If the ABS light is on, the brake  system  shou ld be serviced
as  soon  as possible   to  restore  the  benefits  of  Anti-Lock
brakes.   If the   ABS light   does  not   come  on  when   the
Ignition   switch  is  turned   to the  ON  position,   have  the
bulb  rep aired as  soon  as possible.
the  clicking sou nd  of solenoid   valves,
brake  pedal  pulsations,
•  and a slight  drop  or fall away  of the  brake pedal  at  the
end  of the  stop .
If  both   the  Brake   Warning   Light  and   the  ABS  Light
rem ain  on,  the  Anti-Lock  brakes   (ABS)  and  Electronic
Brake Force  Distribu tion (EBD) system s are  not function-
ing.  Immediate  rep air  to the  ABS system  is requ ired .
These  are all  norm al characteristics   of ABS.
WARN ING!
When  the  vehicle  is driven   over  7 mph  (11  km/ h),  you
may  also  hear  a  slight  clicking   sou nd as  well  as  som e
related   motor  noises.  These   noises  are  the  system   per-
form ing its self check  cycle to ensu re that  the ABS system
is working  prop erly.  This self check  occurs  each time  the
vehicle  is started  and  accelerated   past  7 mph  (11 km/  h).
The  Anti-Lock  Brak e  System  contain  s sop histicated
electron ic   equipment    that   may   be   suscep tib le  to
interferen  ce caused   by  improp erly  installed   or  high
output   rad io tran smittin  g equipment.    This  interfer-
ence  can   cause   possib le  loss   of  anti-lock   brak ing
capability.   Installation   of such  equipment    should   be
perform  ed by  qualified   profession   als.
ABS is  activated   during   braking  und er  certain   road  or
stop ping  cond itions.   ABS-inducing   cond itions   can  in-
clude   ice,  snow,  gravel,   bumps,   railroad   tracks,   loose
debris,  or  panic  stop s.
