Automatic Transmission — General Information
The autom atic transm ission selects ind ivid ual gears au-
tom atically, depend ent upon:

Damage to the tran smission may occur if the follow -
ing precau tion s are not observed :
•
Shift into PARK only after the veh icle has come to
a complete stop .
Selector lever position
Accelerator position

Shift into or out of REVERSE only after the
veh icle has come to a complete stop and the
engin e is at idle speed .
The gear shifting process is continu ously adapted , de-
pend ent on the driving style, the driving situ ation and
the road characteristics.

Do not shift from REVERSE, PARK or NEUTRAL
into any forw ard gear when the engin e is above
idle speed .
NOTE:
Before shiftin g into any gear, make sure you r foot
is firm ly on the brak e pedal.
•
After selecting any driving position, wait a moment to
allow the gear to fully engage before accelerating,
especially when the engine is cold.
